Reiki is known as the healing universal life force energy which has the capacity to soothe pain and suffering, promote healing and cause deep states of relaxation.  It is not often comprehensible to us that the simple laying on of hands can have healing effects, yet Reiki is the healing energy that comes through the hands to the body and distributes itself to the area most requiring the healing. 

Training in Reiki typically follows a series of 3 classes: Reiki I, Reiki II and Reiki III.  At the third level you are considered a Reiki Master.  Although Reiki has become popular around the globe and has morphed into several types, there is a tradition of honoring the lineage of teachers who are aligned with the man credited for rediscovering this method of healing, Dr. Usui.  The teachers following the original Usui Reiki methodology distribute the knowledge and corresponding initiations which empower the student in the use of Reiki for healing.
